Queridas familias,

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped with Grade 1–3 swimming this week. Activities like these would not be possible without the assistance of our volunteer community!

We held our annual Halloween Parade this afternoon, and it was a joy to see all the students dressed up.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween!

Telephone Services — November 17

On Tuesday, November 17, 2026, Dalhousie School will conduct scheduled maintenance on our existing phone lines between approximately 7:00 and 8:00 AM.

We expect minimal disruption to our phone system. However, if you are unable to reach us during this time, please try calling again later or contact us through our general email:

Email: dalhousie@cbe.ab.ca

Student Grades and MyCBE

Starting in November, summative grades, such as end-of-unit projects, quizzes, and tests, will be posted on MyCBE for families to review.

Please use your MyCBE account to view grades in your student's core subjects.

Grade 4 and 5 Skiing Trip — Cancelled

The City of Calgary has announced upcoming water restrictions to support the connection of the new Bearspaw South Feeder Main to the existing water system.

This work will begin on November 4 and is expected to last approximately four weeks. During this period, the existing Bearspaw South Feeder Main will be temporarily shut down, significantly reducing the amount of water that can be distributed across the city.

Unfortunately, these restrictions will limit WinSport's ability to make snow during a critical preparation period for the winter season.

As a result, our planned Grade 4 and 5 skiing trip has been cancelled.

We will explore other opportunities for students to participate in throughout the school year.

Thank you for your understanding.

Traffic Safety

We continue to monitor traffic flow during student drop-off and pick-up times.

As a safety precaution, we remind families that the safest place to cross the street is at the designated crosswalk at the corner.

Please review the following video with your child to reinforce safe pedestrian practices:

Video: How to Cross the Street: A Guide for Kids

Reminders for Drivers

  • Respect neighbouring properties by not blocking driveways or garages.
  • Do not park in the designated Hug and Go zone.
  • Students should load and unload quickly in the Hug and Go zone to keep traffic moving.
  • Remember that the Hug and Go zone is a no-idling zone.

Thank you for your continued cooperation in helping keep our school community safe.

K–2 Dance Residency — November 2–5

Students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 will participate in a dance residency through DancePl3y from November 2–5.

Each class will participate in one 45-minute session per day over the four days.

Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement throughout the week.

Remembrance Day Assembly — November 10

Dalhousie School will commemorate Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:45 AM.

This will be a school-only assembly, as our gymnasium does not have sufficient capacity to accommodate additional guests.

Students who are members of Cadets, Scouts, or Guides are welcome to wear their uniforms to school on this day.

Student Food Delivery

We understand that students occasionally forget their lunches and that families may arrange for food to be delivered to the school.

If you use a delivery service such as SkipTheDishes or Uber Eats, please call the school office to notify staff.

This helps us identify the student who is the intended recipient of the delivery.

Lunchroom and Field Trip Fees

Registration for the Noon Supervision Program is now open.

If your child stays at school during lunch, please register through the MyCBE Parent Portal.

School-based fees, including applicable field trip fees, will also appear in this portal as events are scheduled.

Please review your account regularly and ensure fees are paid in a timely manner.

Change of Plans and Busing

We understand that family plans sometimes change and that you may need to pick up your child instead of having them take the bus.

Please email the school at dalhousie@cbe.ab.ca to notify us of any changes.

For changes made later in the day, please call the main office after the following times:

Although the school email inbox is checked several times throughout the day, a phone call helps ensure that time-sensitive information is received promptly.

School Absences

Please remember to notify the school whenever your child will be absent.

Attendance Line: 403-777-6030, Ext. 1

Reporting absences helps us maintain accurate daily attendance records and supports student safety in the event of an emergency.

As a reminder, please keep students home when they are not feeling well.
