We take great pride in keeping a tidy school; both inside and out. We ask all our students to be good citizens by putting garbage and recycling where it belongs, and helping to keep our classrooms and playground clean.

Also, a reminder that smoking is not permitted on CBE property. Parents and family members may not smoke anywhere outside of the school. This includes sidewalks. Your cooperation is both appreciated and expected.

Playground Rules & Expectations

As a school, we consistently review our playground rules and expectations with our students as needed throughout the school year. Please take a moment to review these with your child(ren):

  • Respect the Playground Schedule
  • The Playground is a shared space, be kind, be respectful and include everyone
  • Safety first - if it looks unsafe, we will ask you to stop
  • Tie up long hair
  • Ensure shoe and boot laces are tied securely
  • Ensure all loose items of clothing are removed or tucked into shirt or coat
  • Avoid the use of outdoor wear that can cause a choking hazard such as scarves or costumes or neck ties
  • One person per swing and no jumping off the swing
  • Only slide down in a seated position, feet first - No climbing!!
  • No standing on top or jumping off the climbing cargo net (the elephant)
  • No use of other equipment on the Playground (skipping ropes, soccer balls, bikes)
  • No tag games on the Playground area
  • Report unsafe behavior to a supervisor immediately
  • If there’s a disagreement, use calm and respectful words to solve the problem, or ask an adult for help

Use of School Equipment, Open Spaces & Play Areas

Students are expected to use school and recreational equipment appropriately. Students are expected to play safe games that will not potentially endanger themselves or others. Students are expected to respect the rights of participants in organized games and not to disrupt the activity.

  • Stay inside school grounds at all times
  • Dress appropriately for the weather to stay clean and dry
  • Rocks and snow stay on the ground

Supervision

Outdoor supervision is provided daily from 8:50 am to 9:05 am. For safety reasons, do not drop off your child to school before the supervisors are on duty. Early drop off can't be accommodated by the main office.

No Dogs on School Grounds

We would like to remind our community that according to the City of Calgary Bylaw 23M2006-Responsible Pet Ownership, dogs are not allowed on CBE property.

This regulation is in place for two reasons.

  1. Children play on the property and dogs, through no fault of their own can create unsanitary conditions.
  2. Perhaps most importantly, some children are fearful of dogs and should not have to face that fear every day.

The restricted area for dogs includes the entire playing field, the grassed areas on school property and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances.

We appreciate your consideration.
