Indigenous Residency
From April 7 to 10, we are excited to welcome Clarence “Skip” M. Wolfleg Jr., a Knowledge Keeper from the Siksika Nation to Escuela Dalhousie School. Skip will work alongside our students from Kindergarten through Grade 6, sharing his knowledge, stories, and teachings to deepen our collective understanding of Indigenous perspectives.
Skip Wolfleg Jr. is a gifted drummer and singer who is passionate about sharing his songs and teachings with learners of all ages. He brings extensive knowledge of Blackfoot culture, including sacred medicines, stories, and history, and offers engaging presentations in music, dance, drumming, and singing.
This experience directly supports our ongoing commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action. As part of this commitment, we continue to build and apply an understanding of Indigenous values such as reciprocity and respect, and to honour how these values are lived in relationships with Indigenous students, families, Elders, community members, and the land.
Read-a-Thon 2026 (April 6-16)
This is a reminder that our Read-a-Thon 2026 2nd Edition began today and will continue until April 16, 2026. Students are encouraged to read daily and track their minutes as they work toward their reading goals. This is a wonderful opportunity to build strong reading habits while also supporting our school, as funds raised will go toward upgrading our Learning Commons.
See the pledge page that your child brought home today. If your child was missing on Thursday, April 2, their teacher will have their form ready on Monday, April 6. If you have not received the form, please contact your child’s teacher.
What? Movie Night!!
Yes, our school is planning a Movie Night on Wednesday, April 16 at 6:00 PM! We are excited to present The Wild Robot. This is a wonderful story that students and families will enjoy together. Bring your blankets, pillows, and snacks, and join us for a fun and relaxing evening at the school. Doors will open shortly before the movie begins. Note that this is not a drop-off activity, parents must attend with their child.
School Council and Parent Society

Fundraiser Update
Thank you for your incredible support of our recent Rocky Mountain Soap and Purdy’s Chocolate fundraisers. Because of your generosity, we were able to raise $1,643 through Rocky Mountain Soap and $790.25 through Purdy’s Chocolate. These funds will go directly toward repainting our playground lines and games on the compound, helping to create a more engaging and enjoyable outdoor space for all of our students.
Language and Reading
Parents or Guardians of Kindergarten to Grade 2 students are invited to join a free, two-part online session led by CBE speech-language pathologists. The sessions focus on supporting language development and early reading skills through shared reading and everyday sound-based activities. The sessions will be held live on Microsoft Teams, and access details will be provided after registration. Children do not need to attend.
