Buenas Tardes Dalhousie Familias!

Thank you to everyone for helping to make our first week back to school very successful (even with all the smoke)! We are thrilled to welcome all our students back and our new kindergartners. Our grade 6 students have settled in nicely with their brand-new furniture. Our welcome back BBQ was a great success. Students are adjusting to our new bell schedule, and it is helping everything run smoothly here at the school.  Thank you to the Parent Council and Parent Society for providing food and volunteers to make this happen.

Please take a few minutes to read some important information and updates for this week. Please make sure to check our Dalhousie School Calendar for upcoming events, meetings, non-instruction days, school council, fundraisers or any other important school activities. Our school calendar is the best way to know what is coming up for your students monthly. Please check on a regular basis for up-to-date information.

Have a great weekend!

Complete Online Forms by Sept. 15

The CBE sent an important email this week to all parents and guardians regarding the completion, review and update of the demographic information, citizen information and annual authorization for 2025-2026. To review the different forms and demographic information for your student, you must use MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc.

Communication

Please sign up for SchoolMessenger, and visit our Dalhousie School Website regularly for any school updates and events. Most school messages are sent to Dalhousie families through SchoolMessenger. It’s a mass communication tool that allows schools to easily and securely send email, phone and text messages to parents and guardians. Messages are sent to the parent contacts on file at your school. If you have any questions or issues, please get in touch with the Main Office.

Fun Lunches

Fun Lunches are scheduled throughout the year, giving students the chance to enjoy lunch, socialize with friends, and participate in special activities. Please make sure to register your child(ren) at HealthyHunger.

For details about upcoming Fun Lunches, please refer to our school calendar. Our first order will be for Subway and Booster Juice on Wednesday, Sept. 24. If you want to volunteer, please sign up with SignUpGenius. Please ensure to have your police volunteer check completed and submitted to the school.

Spanish for Parents - Level 1

Instructor: Jeanne Liendo, Learning Leader, Grade 6 teacher at Dalhousie

Learning Spanish can be both easy and fun. This beginning level course will help parents of bilingual Spanish students learn or refresh their Spanish language skills. Parents will become more comfortable interacting with their children in Spanish, build their network of bilingual parents and become familiar with the school environment.

For more information and to register follow this link  Spanish for Parents - Level 1

End of the day School Pick-up

When waiting to pick up your student at the end of the day at the East doors, for the safety of our students, we ask that you wait at the edge of the compound. Teachers will bring out the classes and will begin to dismiss students once teachers have visual contact with the adult.

School Council and Parent Society

Our First Meeting will be on September 17 at 6:30 pm. The session will be in-person and via Microsoft Team.

Parking Zone on Dallyn Street

Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the Drop-Off Hug-and-Go zone. We need all the space along our school to park all 6 buses. Calgary Parking Authority will be patrolling again next week. Also, please do not cross the street and walk between the parked buses. Dallyn Street gets congested and for the safety of our students and families, we hope for your collaboration in respecting these expectations.

Dismissal – Pickup and Busing

If your child’s end-of-day routine changes (for example, not taking the bus or being picked up by someone else), please email both your child’s teacher and the office to let us know before end of day. This helps us ensure every student gets home safely.

Medical Information

If your child has a medical condition (such as allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc.) or requires medication during the school day, a medical form must be completed and handed in to the office annually. This form helps us ensure that we have the proper information and procedures in place to keep your child safe at school. Please contact the school office if you need a copy of the medical form or have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students healthy and safe.

¡Que tengan un buen fin de semana!
