¡Hola Dalhousie Families!

Another great week at Dalhousie! We had our first School Council and Parent Society meeting Thursday, September 19. We had over 30 people in attendance. 23 families joined us online for the two meetings. Thanks again for attending and taking part of our school community. The minutes for both meetings will be posted shortly on our website. The next meetings will be held on October 30.

Lifetouch School Pictures

Lifetouch pictures will be available to order for the entire school year.  Please visit mylifetouch.ca to order your pictures or access the online help services.  Retake day is Tuesday, October 15.

Meet the Teacher Night

Join us on Thursday, September 26, for Meet the Teacher Night. This informal event is a great chance to connect with your student’s teacher and learn more about the classroom. Please keep in mind that this is not a Parent-Teacher Conference. Teachers will not be able to provide updates or progress on individual students. In this new format, our teachers will cover class expectations, communication, curriculum, daily routines, study time, upcoming field trips as well as answering your questions at the end of their presentation.

Please note that this is not a drop-in event. You will receive an invitation from School Conference to register for one of four 20-minute sessions, which will take place between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Each session will accommodate up to 10 families and students.

Individual Program Plan (IPP) Conferences

On September 27, Parents/Guardians will be able to meet with teachers to review their student’s IPP. Only families with a student on an IPP will be able to book an appointment between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. You will receive an invitation on Monday, September 23.

Terry Fox Campaign

This is week tow of our annual Terry Fox campaign. We have just broken the $1500 mark today. Last year Dalhousie school was recognized for coming in at #12 in the Top 50 Fundraisers of Alberta, raising an incredible $7,493.95. Next week all students will be contributing to our efforts by running/walking and counting their laps during gym time. We hope to complete out feat during our school wide “No Matter What” run on October 1 that celebrates Terry’s determination and persistence.

Pledge forms will be sent home on Monday September 9 with students and they can be returned to school by September 26th. Online donations can also be made to the Terry Fox foundation using our school’s page https://schools.terryfox.ca/DalhousieSchoolCalgary
