Queridas Dalhousie familias!
It was wonderful to connect with so many parents at School Council and Parent Society meetings this week. We are excited to be working together on some amazing upcoming projects, including our Land-Based Learning Garden, a new Gaga ball pit, additional basketball hoops, more instruments for our music and gym programs, and funding to support transportation for all field trips and events this year.
Our Meet the Teacher Night was very well attended, and it was great to see families connecting with teachers and learning more about the exciting year ahead. If you could not attend last night, please know that you can reach out to our staff at any time as the year continues. You can find all names and email addresses on our staff page on our school website. Thank you to everyone who has supported our apple fundraiser and for your contribution to the Terry Fox run. So far, we have raised nearly $2,800 towards our $9000 goal! Let’s keep the momentum and “Finish it” strong together.
Wishing all our students, families, and staff a restful and enjoyable weekend!

Personal Mobile Devices (PMD) in School
This is a reminder to all parents and students that the CBE has rules (AR 6008) restricting personal mobile device use in schools as mandated by the Government of Alberta. These rules apply to all students, with exceptions for students using devices for health and medical needs, to support specialized learning needs and for educational purposes.
Personal mobile devices include any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet, such as a cell phone, tablet, gaming device, laptop or smartwatch. This also includes devices capable of communicating with a mobile device such as headphones and Bluetooth devices (e.g. earbuds and speakers.). Students who choose to bring one or more PMD to school must store the device(s) out of sight and in silent mode or powered off during instructional time and during recess and lunch times.
Students who refuse to comply with CBE’s regulations for the use of PMDs in the school setting may be subject to disciplinary measures as per CBE progressive discipline.
Demographic Verification Forms Compliance
The deadline for families to complete Demographic Verification Forms passed on Monday, Sep.15. Currently, approximately 28% of students do not have a completed Demographic Verification Form for the 2025-26 school year.
On Tuesday, Sep. 16 an overdue reminder communication was sent to parents / legal guardians who have not completed Demographic Verification Forms for the 2025-26 school year. This communication will continue to be sent throughout the months of September and October, with the final overdue reminder being sent on Monday, Oct. 27.
Important | These forms are a legal requirement from Alberta Education for funding purposes. If forms remain incomplete, it may result in a reduction in funding for the Calgary Board of Education.
In addition to system messaging to parents / legal guardians, schools should work with families to complete Demographic Verification Forms as soon as possible. Our goal as an organization is 100% compliance.
We appreciate all your work in supporting families to complete these forms. Visit SchoolEngage to complete your forms.
Monthly Fun Lunches
The Dalhousie School Council and Parents Society are excited to bring back fun lunches this year! These lunches are a hit with many of our students, offering them a chance to enjoy a special lunch once a month. This program helps raise a small profit that supports school initiatives through the Dalhousie Parent Society. If you already have an account, you can continue using it. If not, please register using this link: Healthy Hunger
We are also always looking for volunteers to help distribute the lunches at school. Sign up on Sign Up Genius and use the following email in the search bar: dalhousieschoolparentsociety@gmail.com.
