Buenas Tardes Dalhousie!

Another great and busy week at Dalhousie! Big shout out to our grade 5 students who performed extremely well at the Jubilee Auditorium this week for the Que Pasa 2025 celebration. They delivered a vibrant and heartfelt performance of “Maravilloso” and “Alma Llanera” under the guidance of our Music Specialist, Sra. Carmela Oviedo. We are so proud of how they represented Dalhousie School. Their performance was a demonstration not only for their artistic talent, but also for their commitment to the Spanish Language and Culture. Well done! Many thanks again to all the teachers and parent volunteers involved leading up to the event. This event brings together all CBE Spanish schools in a beautiful celebration of Latin culture.

Read-a-Thon

Our 2024-2025 Read-a-Thon was an exceptional success! Our students have raised $26,114.90 in 10 days. Unbelievable! We celebrated this achievement during an assembly in the gymnasium this morning with all our students, staff, and representatives from the School Council and Parent Society. We did not anticipate this much commitment from our students and support from our families to sponsor students for reading. Congratulations to Sr. Tugle’s Kindergarten Monday/Wednesday class for raising the most money and to Sr. Scott’s class for the highest participation rate. Those 2 groups will get a pizza party for their class. Congratulations to the following students for their top individual pledge: Ameliah R., Andrew R., and Everett C.

I would like to acknowledge the work of all our volunteers in this fundraiser, and especially Melissa Tchir and her team of parents for planning this first-ever Dalhousie Read-a-Thon. Muchisimas Gracias!

Our Alien In-Line Skating residency is just around the corner. They will be at our school starting from May 21- June 20, 2024. Alien In-Line strictly requires ALL students to wear a certified helmet at ALL times while on skates.
They provide certified helmets for all students, and you are welcome to bring your helmet if you wish. Bike, skateboard, and hockey helmets are acceptable. Football, BMX, ski/ snowboard, or other types of helmets are NOT acceptable.

Please make sure that the Acknowledgement of Risk sent home on Thursday, May 12, is returned to your child’s classroom teacher before their first lesson.
