Non-Instruction Day – No Classes

Buenas Tardes Familias,

This week was busy at Dalhousie, highlighted by the announcement that our Grade 5 students will be continuing at Dalhousie next year as Grade 6 students. Sra. Pineda Preece and I took the opportunity to visit the Grade 5 classrooms to address their questions and share our excitement about this news. While many students had been looking forward to moving on to a middle school, we want to assure you that we at Dalhousie are thrilled to continue with this amazing group of students in a Grade 6 cohort. With this change, we are excited to return to our roots as a K-6 community.

As we approach the final week before winter break, we have a few important reminders for parents and students. On the last day of classes, students are invited to wear their pajamas for a fun and cozy Pajama Day. The Mon/Wed group of kindergarten students will have their PJ Day on Dec 18, and the Tue/Thur group on Friday Dec 19. Students on Friday will join our music teacher in the gym to enjoy coming together as a community to sign Christmas carols and traditional Spanish holiday songs. Additionally, please remind your child to check the Lost and Found for any missing items such as boots, toques, gloves, or mittens before the break. We wish everyone a fantastic and festive final week of school!

Have a great weekend and stay warm.

Parking on Dallyn Street

Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the Drop-Off Hug-and-Go zone. Doing so prevents our school buses from parking in their designated area, forcing them to wait on Dallyn Street and blocking traffic in both directions.

This causes delays as buses must wait for others to unload and move, resulting in congestion and frustration for ALL drivers. We have received several complaints from parents, transportation, and from our Day Care bus drivers. These incidents have been reported to Calgary Police Traffic Service and to Calgary Parking Authority Enforcement. We are expecting more Parking Officers to be in the area starting next week. We appreciate your support, collaboration and mainly patience for the safety of our students, parents and staff.
