Maestros, no más inglés…
On Thursday, April 10 at 9:15 AM, a magical phenomenon happened at Dalhousie. A powerful magician cast a spell onto all staff and students whereby no one could understand English for the day. The students and staff rose to the challenge, and it was a magical day throughout the land. Students were heard speaking Spanish in the classrooms and in the hallways and were pleasantly surprised with their ability and resiliency. With the success of the day, you never know when this tricky magician may pop by again and cast a spell on all.

Don't forget! Session on the Neurolinguistic Approach (NLA)
On April 15, at 7 pm the Dalhousie School Council will host a session on the Neurolinguistic Approach (NLA), presented by Dr. Katherine Mueller. The session will be hosted at the school.
NLA is a method used by your child’s teacher when teaching Spanish in class. This teaching method aligns with the brain’s natural language acquisition process, prioritizing spoken language first, followed by reading and writing mirroring how we learn our first language. In this session, Dr. Mueller will provide insight into how students in the Spanish bilingual program develop language skills while engaging with subjects from the Alberta curriculum. She will also be available to answer any questions about language learning in the bilingual program.
Dr. Mueller is an Assistant Professor at the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary. She specializes in language education, teaching and mentoring Bachelor of Education students in French, Spanish, Mandarin, and German. An expert in the Neurolinguistic Approach, she has presented extensively to language teachers across various school divisions.
