Stay Informed:

Querida familias,

Our students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring our neighborhood’s surroundings with the help of our Yellow Steps residency.  Today is the last day of the residency, but we are happy to hear that the impact of this experience has been very meaningful to students and teachers.  Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Traffic Safety

Keeping the safety of our students and families in mind, please remember to use the cross walks close to the school and not jay walk across the street. In addition, drivers, please ensure that when you park, you respect the neighbors’ properties by not blocking driveways or garages. As many of you are aware, the Calgary Police Services were present during our drop off time on Thursday morning to enforce the traffic laws by our school.  Please ensure that if you use the Hug and Go zone, this is meant to be a quick drop off of students without the driver parking the vehicle or getting out of the vehicle.  As well, please remember that this is a no idling zone.  In addition, please pay attention to the Bus Zone, as this is meant for busses only.  Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Individualized Program Plans (IPP)

For students who have an IPP, please note that these will be coming home this week.  We ask that you review the IPP and send back the signature page in the envelope provided as soon as possible.  If you have any questions regarding the IPP, please contact your homeroom teacher.

Change of Plans and Busing

We understand that plans change, and there are times that you need to pick up your students instead of them taking the bus.  We ask that you please email the school at dalhousie@cbe.ab.ca to let us know.  If you need to make changes past 1pm (Monday to Thursday) and 11am on Fridays, please call the main office to let us know.  The school email inbox is checked several times over the day, but a phone call will ensure that get the information in a timely manner.

School Absences

Please remember to call the attendance line to let us know of your student’s absence – 403 777 6030 ext. 1. This not only helps us as we complete daily attendance but is also a security concern in the case of emergencies. Just a gentle reminder to keep your students home if they are not feeling well.

As our chair, you’ll be the guiding voice, you’ll steer activities, champion our goals, and lead meetings as an impartial, non-voting guide. Please reach out to us at dalhousieschoolparentsociety@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like additional information. These roles need to be filled by Oct 8 so please don’t hesitate!

Dalhousie School Council

Dalhousie School Council helps connect parents to the school and provides additional learning opportunities for all students. There are many ways to get involved that do not require you to hold a position on council. If you would like more information about getting connected or volunteer opportunities, please send an email to dalhousieschoolcouncil@gmail.com. The School Council and the Parent Society will meet on Oct. 8, 2026.  At the beginning of the meeting, the Grade 6 team will do a short presentation.

This will be a hybrid meeting and you can access the meeting through the following link: School Council and Parent Society Meeting-Join | Microsoft Teams

With gratitude,
Erick Noriega, Principal
