Dear Dalhousie Families,

As part of National Indigenous History Month, Dalhousie came together to honour Indigenous culture, history, and traditions. A highlight of the week was a powerful Fancy Dancer performance by Kyle Agapi, who captivated students and staff with his vibrant dancing, speech and interaction with our students. You can see some pictures below.

We also celebrated our learning journey through ReconciliACTION, showcasing our ongoing commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. Students shared reflections that highlight their growing understanding and respect for Indigenous perspectives.

In addition, our school garden came to life in the past week as students and parent volunteers worked side by side to plant and care for various plants. Come take a look to see what’s growing in Dalhousie’s Garden, including Saskatoon Berries, Sweet Grass, Sedum, Hens and Chicks, and many other perennials and trees!

Thanks to all our volunteers, teachers, and students for their contribution to our garden project. A special thank-you to our School Council and Parent Society for believing and supporting this project.

Finally, our playground is free of all the fences, and the grass has been freshly cut!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Sebastien Fournier,
Principal

Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, made a Truth and Reconciliation Commitment to Action. On June 21, we renewed our commitment, which can be found under Related Information.

New Bell Times 2025-2026 (NEW)

As you are aware, our bell times have changed slightly for the next school year. Our morning start time has shifted by 10 minutes. These changes are in response to Alberta Education’s School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025.

  • Students will now start at 9:15 am from Monday to Friday
Supervision will start at 9:00 am, doors will open at 9:10 am, and instruction will begin at 9:15 am.
  • Dismissal time remains at 3:50 pm from Monday to Thursday
  • Dismissal time on Friday will now be at 1:11 pm
  • Lunch Break will be shorter by 5 minutes to make up for the loss of instruction time. Students will still have 20 minutes for lunch and 25 minutes of lunch recess.
  • Grades 1 to 3 will have their Lunch Break from 11:40 am to 12:25 pm.
  • Grades 4 to 6 will have their Lunch Break from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm.
  • Friday students will have a 20-minute “Super Snack” nutritional break at 11:30 am with their teachers on Fridays.

If you have any questions, please contact the school for more information. All new bell times will be posted on our Back-to-School page in August.
